NOOR VON WINCKELMAN
Noor von Winckelmann is a Belgian visual artist who focuses primarily on printmaking. After earning her master’s degree in fine arts in 2022, Noor started working with printmaking in her own studio on the theme of light. She is inspired by light reflections, refractions and shadows and tries to capture and translate this abstract, changeable manifestation onto paper. At times she transforms the flat aspect of printmaking to a more object-based interpretation by changing the form of presentation to three-dimensional work.
MAARTEN DE NAEYER
Contemporary visual artist
The abstract graphic works of Maarten De Naeyer (born 1992 in Leuven, lives and works in Leuven) are the result of a constant experimentation with shapes and textures. After obtaining his masters degree in Graphic Design in 2015, Maarten developed his own unique way of working by experimenting in his studio. Purified form tension through geometric and organic shapes that interact in an environment of varying textures are the common thread throughout the work. Another characteristic feature is the purification of shapes and letting the negative white space going in dialogue with the composition.
Jacob Schoolmeesters (born 1999, KESSEL-LO, Belgium) is a media artist.
His works revolve around the term "Phantom nostalgia": the longing for an experience, feeling or place one has never experienced. It is a form of nostalgia fuelled by the overflow of images and stories coming from new technologies. Looking for ways and means, he indulges in playing with how this term might translate to the physical world. Using written and drawn symbols, he creates a world where levity rules and rules are subverted.
Jacob Schoolmeesters currently lives and works in Brussels and is in his final master year at KASK (Ghent).
KRISTOF GEYSEMANS / INTO THE WOODS
Furniture and Wooden Surfboards
At Into The Woods, we love wood. We love beauty, quality, craftsmanship and durability. We love making unique objects in which we can put our passion and soul. Specifically, this translates into custom furniture and wooden surfboards.
The furniture we make comes from a creative proces together with the client.
The eco-friendly surfboards can be custom made, or you can come to build your own surfboard in one of our workshops.
Production platform for media art
Werktank is a production platform for media art. Our main mission is the realisation and distribution of installation art that investigates the relation between technology and perception. Werktank functions as a work tool for the artist and puts its artistic, technical and productional expertise at the disposal of young and emerging artists. We accompany the artist through all the phases of the creation process of media art, from the research process till the final realisation and active distribution of the work, by offering residencies, financial and productional support. Werktank operates at the crossroads of media art, visual art and performance art.
Koen Geurts studied for 6 years at the art academy in Anderlecht. Working creatively with iron and fire gives both physical and mental satisfaction. The ancient craft has something authentic, powerful and earthy. He wants to express this in his forge ‘Aardvuur’ in Ateliers Minnoye. In this search for 'grounding', he also regularly counsels socially vulnerable young people.
MURIEL PRINCENVisual art
As a visual artist, I draw inspiration from my work as a therapist in which I am touched by the search for connection and the power of vulnerability.
In my work, I start from concrete reality and the often elusive inner world of emotions and desires. I try to translate what moves me daily in people's stories to the canvas. This is also a common thread throughout my works. I paint people in everyday life, what occupies them, themes such as identity and the search of the "I" in relation to the other and to the environment. The figures emanate vulnerability, but also strength.
DAAN DEWIT STUDIO
Daan De Wit is a Belgian object designer. In his studio, he combines various materials and techniques to produce small collections of pieces that are both functional and aesthetic. They are inspired by a natural phenomenon, a particular system or ideology. By looking for the essence, he approaches materials as purely as possible. Techniques are not hidden away, but come to the surface to interact with the material.
Previous generations, our parents and grandparents, had heavy, mostly dark, oak furniture.
I saw the wood from that furniture into pieces.
I plan the wood again so that it becomes beautiful new planks of solid old wood.
I use these planks to make tables (square and rectangular; round and oval; extendable or not) and small pieces of furniture.
In this way, I connect old with new.
The tables, made from the beautiful wood of old tables with their old stories, become an invitation to encounters where new stories are made.
IEF SPINCEMAILLEVisual art
Ief Spincemaille is a Belgian visual artist. His work is about in-between spaces and intermediate stages. Places of ambiguity and disorientation where our perception of reality, objects and relationships lose their familiar identity and find themselves in a liminal state. He explores and navigate the in-between with location projects, installations, objects and photography.
With his location projects, Spincemaille leaves the safe confines of his studio and works in non-artistic contexts, such as an abbey, prison, a bicycle workshop, a residential neighbourhood... It is an attempt to reach out to new communities, to challenge the traditional ways of making and presenting art and to embrace the other as the path and direction for change.
